Greg Greenwood, PhD Associate Greg Greenwood, PhD, MPH, is a licensed clinical psychologist with training in HIV/AIDS prevention research, public health, and alcohol, tobacco and other drug use surveillance and treatment. He brings to Aplomb Consulting experience in grant writing, participatory research, program planning and evaluation, survey development, data analysis and professional and public report writing and dissemination. His research interests are broadly within the behavioral and social epidemiology of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use among diverse LGBT communities, the role of non-injection drug use in recent HIV infection and the implications for community-based intervention and prevention. Greg is first- or co-author of four published articles appearing in peer-reviewed journals in 2001, and first-author of an upcoming paper on domestic violence among gay and bisexual men, which will be published in the American Journal of Public Health. Greg is also Co-Principal Investigator (PI) with Dr. Robert Grant of Gladstone Institute of Virology and Immunology (GIVI) of a study of HIV-1 superinfection among seroconcordant couples. He successfully led and completed two groundbreaking tobacco projects in 2001 that were funded by the California Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program (TRDRP). He has become a nationally recognized expert and leader in tobacco control among LGBT communities. Greg is currently Co-PI with Dr. Jeffrey Klausner (Principal Investigator), Director of the STD Prevention & Control Services, San Francisco Department of Public Health of a three-year randomized clinical trial of a waiting room intervention in STD clinics. Funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, this multi-site collaborative project is assessing the effectiveness of a brief 20-minute video-based intervention designed to increase condom use and reduce STD reinfection among male and female STD clinic clients. Greg is excited about starting a family. He and partner are in the process of adopting a boy and becoming Daddy and Papa. Greg enjoys spending time with family and friends, babysitting his nephews, dining out, working out, reading, traveling, exploring, watching films, and going to plays and dance performances.
